LSU 34, Arkansas 31, at a night game in Death Valley, a game where the last team with the ball was the winner. It didn’t help that the Hogs had zero timeouts to stop the clock, as LSU bled the clock down before kicking a chip-shot winning field goal.
The good news – the Razorback offense came to life and matched LSU point for point when the game was on the line in the second half. When your team scores 31 points in a night game at Death Valley, when your team only punts once, that should be enough for a win. But LSU just couldn’t be stopped in the second half and too many times the Hogs kicked field goals instead of scoring touchdowns. And the yellow hankies kept dropping at the worst times for the Hogs.
Looking back, the glass is more than half full, as the Hogs had a chance to win after being 17-point underdogs in one of the most difficult away environments. After the BYU game, the season looked like it could be lost. After the LSU game performance, every remaining game is winnable.
Next, the Razorbacks travel to JerryWorld in Arlington to face Texas A&M, where former Razorback head coach Bobby Petrino is now the OC for A&M. Will Petrino have revenge on his mind and try to hang half a hundred on the Hogs? Can the Hogs offense continue to move forward? Answers on Saturday…
